Dev device requirements
In order to use passkeys on your development device or emulator, you'll need to make sure the device meets the following requirements:
Device/emulator requirements
- Google Play Store and Chrome must be installed (how setup an emulator with Play Store (opens in a new tab))
- Runs Android 13 or newer (how to update Android OS & SDK (opens in a new tab))
- Lockscreen setup with PIN and biotmetrics (how to setup biometrics (opens in a new tab))
NOTE: In our experience, passkey authentication only works after setting up TWO biometrics (example: register 2 fingerprints).
Google account requirements
- Android device must be registered to a Google account (how to add a Google account (opens in a new tab))
- Credential Manager must be setup in Chrome (how to setup Credential Manager (opens in a new tab))
